Over the last decade I have backpacked through the Eastern Sierra in California with a tight-knit group of friends, who includes Ken Niles, former Creative Director at Blue and now at Neat Microphones.
Most days towards sunset I would pull out my lightweight backpack guitar and noodle around on it by campfire, using open tunings as a way of winding down for the day. Inevitably one of my cohorts would pipe up, “Hey that sounds awesome – why don’t you record an entire album of that type of music?” I suppose one day I will. In the meantime, here’s is a sample of that High Sierra vibe recorded with a pair of our new Neat King Bee microphones. Pop in a pair of earbuds, grab your favorite beverage and head out to the great outdoors – or your back porch! – and hear how the mics bring out the best from my Gibson Hummingbird. It’s the perfect way to toast the end of the day.
